The Attic with Smoke, Lilies and Jade

I have been working on a video "work in progress series" with Zane Booker of The Smoke, Lilies and Jade Arts Initiative in collaboration with The Attic Youth Center.  This video vignette will be incorporated into a dance performance debuting at the Freedom Theater in Philadelphia on Sunday and Monday.

This dance explores the space we all dance in, between how we know love and the meaning of love and how we must live with the ambiguity of conflicted realities and meanings.  It is also an honor to listen to the voices of my present and future inspiration, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender and questioning youth.

Shooting Sterile at Fox Chase Cancer Center

Scott and I have been shooting with For Chase Cancer Center for many years and over the past past few months we have been shooting HD video for their website.

Fox Chase Cancer Center is a National Cancer Center that leads in breakthrough science and research and the development and delivery of effective cancer treatments and therapies.  Peter and Scott have been developing low impact video and still production methods with the help of the FCCC marketing department, Fern Nibauer and Kim Williams to better tell the amazing Fox Chase Cancer Center story.

With the advent of new digital tapeless workflows and more sensitive HD cameras, Scott and I enter into sensitive environments with little impact when compared with traditional shooting crews, with amazing high production value results.  For example, Fox Chase Cancer Center's new web site now features video profiles of surgeons and doctors all shot by either Scott or myself.

This week we completed day one of the "Same Day Surgery" video.  When completed this video will be streamed on the Fox Chase Cancer Center website and will help prepare patients for their surgery.

We utilize low power lighting or sometimes no lighting at all.  We also utilize camera stabilization systems such as the Glide Cam.  We focus our efforts on providing a comfortable and flexible experience for all our clients and the subjects we shoot, and this is a real asset when we shoot with nurses and doctors.  It is so important that they deliver their message naturally, clearly and simply for the camera.  The whole idea is to make the project look effortless.

April

Yeah, it seems that my posting came to a dead halt! It was like I had a great birthday party - which I did - and never came back. But I have to admit most of my best friends and lovers are born within a month of me. Actually, what I have really been doing has been going back and forth about the only thing anyone is thinking about these days....Clinton or Obama, No - I don't think so, actually if I will or will not be traveling to Darfur, Sudan. It seems my documentary healing work with meaningfulworld.com is on hold while the team awaits approval from Sudan. So right now I am not leaving until mid May or so, which is a good thing as I am totally booked up with other projects through May 17th. April 22 though brings me to another great decision, one that I will finally have to decide when I walk into the voting booth. I really do not know who I will vote for, my gut tells me Obama but my heart still has a real place for Hillary.

My sister Ann and her two children Mia and Amy and her husband Eric, just moved from Monclair to Hershey, PA! Yeah! Welcome to Pennsylvania.
